Witness a very rare opportunity; observe a sea turtle hatchling release. Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) is one of Florida’s unique non-profit educational and entertaining destinations dedicated to ocean and sea turtle conservation. Their vision is, “to be recognized locally and internationally as the leading authority in sea turtle education, research, and rehabilitation.”
LMC is offering a program, which is available the entire month of August. The program is a behind the scenes tour of the sea turtle rehabilitation-healing center and research facility located in Juno Beach. At the close of the tour, the group is escorted to the Juno Beach with a staff researcher. At the beach, a Loggerhead staff member will release sea turtle hatchlings into their natural habitat, the Atlantic Ocean.
The hatchlings release program will be available every day during the month of August. The cost for this rare experience is $12.00 for a Loggerhead Marinelife Center member, $17.00 per person who reserves a spot in advance and $20.00 for a “walk-in” person.
Just this 2016 nesting season, between the Juno, Jupiter, Carlin Park and Tequesta beaches there have been 160 Leatherback nests, 347 Green Turtle nests, and 13,704 Loggerhead nests!
Reserve your spot by contacting Loggerhead Marinelife Center, 14200 Erikson Way, Juno Beach FL 33408 or visiting the LMC website for more information.
