Wire Art For Kids in Palm Beach Gardens April and May

A fun and new way for kids to express their creativity is coming to town, and its called wire art. Wire art is a type of art form that comes from a group of artisans in Cape Town, South Africa. It combines wire, beads and other elements for kids to put together in their own way to make art sculptures, jewelry and more.

Martine Lipnitsky will teach the upcoming wire art classes. Martine learned how to make wire art while visiting South Africa. She saw the art being created and sold on the streets by local artisans. She was taught how to make it by a charitable organization called, Streetwires. This group makes and sells their crafts and unique beads to support the local communities in Cape Town. Their skills training, raw materials and support encourage social empowerment of street vendor wire artists.

Now, we can experience a taste of South Africa right here in Florida.

Wire Art classes will be held at the Palm Beach Recreation Center in April and May of 2017. Classes will be offered to children ages 8 to 13, on Saturdays at 10:30am until noon during the months of April and May. Prices for the classes are $60 for Palm Beach Gardens residents and $75 for nonresidents.
