Thanksgiving Day, falls on the third Thursday of November, the nation of the United States and Canada gather with their immediate loved ones and celebrate the day of giving thanks for the foregoing year and the blessings of the crop and produce.

There are so many activities that are surrounded by the feast on Thanksgiving Day, however in South Florida there is much to do that doesn’t have to do with stuffing the turkey, that is if you’re not watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! There are other things that may interest you as well!

The national holiday is all about taking the time out and giving thanks, due to this there are many shifts available to assist in preparing, serving and/ or delivering meals to the less fortunate.
Palm Beach County
The Big Heart Brigade is working very hard to meet their 100,000 meals to give away. “The Brigade’s mission is to enrich the lives of those in need by providing a holiday meal or some much needed support to members of our community.”
Broward County
Feed the Homeless on Thanksgiving Day with Homeless Voice Homeless Shelter in Hollywood, Florida. This sort of giving will be sure to bring out smiles during the holiday as men, women and children in the greatest of need, will be served with a big meal and more at Broward Outreach Centers.

Those that are looking for a metabolism boost before the big meal there are four counties in South Florida that will be hosting a Turkey Trot.
-    Town of Palm Beach United Way Turkey Trot
-    Fort Lauderdale Turkey Trot & Turkey Paddle
-    The Baptist Health South Florida’s Turkey Trot
