The New Way to Search For Your Next Home

Posted by Waterfront Properties on Tuesday, June 21st, 2011 at 1:14pm.

Have you been searching for real estate in a particular area or particular city and wish that you could just search in specific parts of the city or neighborhood?  Well now Waterfront Properties & Club Communities offers a tool that makes searching for your next home as simple as that!

Our new interactive map search allows you to draw a polygon shape around the area you'd like to search in, refine the results by price or number of bedrooms & bathrooms, save your search and receive email updates of listings in that area.  Go ahead and give it a try!

Your Interactive Real Estate Map Search Walkthru

For purposes of this demonstration today, we're going to look for real estate available in Admiral's Cove in Jupiter, but feel free to use any location that you like.  You'll begin your search by visiting the "Search Listings" page of WaterfrontProperties.com. Once you have clicked on "Search Listings," you will then need to click on the "By Map" tab located under the word "Property Search."

Selecting Your Desired Area

Admirals Cove Map SearchLet's first position the map in the general area of where you'd like to draw your home search area.  You can use the "+" and "-" signs along the left top side of the map to zoom in or out.  Upon moving your mouse over an area of the map, you'll see that your cursor turns into a "hand" icon.  You can click and drag the map left, right, up or down to position the general area in your map window.  Now you are ready to draw your shape around the area where you are searching for a home.

Click on the left hand side of the web page on "Draw Polygon."  This will turn your cursor into a black "cross" icon.  To begin creating your shape, click on a beginning marker around your desired area.  Continue clicking around your desired area to create a blue shaded area.  If you find that you need to move the map in one direction or another, clicking/holding and dragging will move the map without creating a marker on the map. To complete your shape you will click on the very first marker you created.  If you need to clear what you've done and begin again, just simply click "Clear Polygon" on the right hand side of the web page.

Refining Your Search Results

You should now see a completed shape around a section of the map.  What you'll want to do next to ensure you receive listings in that desired area, is to mark the checkbox on the right hand side of the page that says "Search in Bounds."  To refine your search, you'll complete any of the options in the right hand side bar of the web page.  I am going to adjust the price range, bedrooms, and bathrooms.  After selecting any refining options scroll to the top of that box and click "Refine Search."

Saving Your Seach

Registration on Waterfront Properties WebsiteNow that you have created some boundaries around the area in which you are looking for a home, you'll want to save your search so that you can be alerted to any new real estate listings or status changes in your desired search area.  If you already have an account on the Waterfront-Properties.com website, you'll simply be asked to login.  If you do not have an account, you'll need to register which is a really quick and easy process.

To save your newly created map search, you'll simply click "Save this Search" which appears just above the map section.  You'll next be prompted to name your search.  That's it.  You'll be able to return to the site and view & edit your saved searches and listings at any time.

Viewing Your Saved Search

There are a number of ways throughout Waterfront-Properties.com to login to the site once you have registered.  You will find one login location at the very top right corner of every web page.  You'll find another on the right hand side of the page just below the telephone numbers and main navigation.  Once you are logged in, you can click to review any real estate listings you have bookmarked or any saved searches you have created.

Reporting Errors, Comments, or Questions

If you'd like to provide feedback on our interactive real estate map search, please feel free to comment just below this article or send an email to our website administrator.  We'll be happy to answer any questions and definitely want to hear about any issues while using the map search.
