Florida shoppers will get a three-day back-to-school tax holiday. Each year prior to the start of school the Florida Department of Revenue schedules a Sales Tax Holiday weekend where items for back to school are not subject to sales tax. This year’s Sales Tax Holiday will kick off Friday, August 5 and end Sunday, August 7.  Throughout the weekend, Floridians will be able to purchase specific school supplies, clothing and footwear without paying state and local sales taxes. The tax exemption applies to specific items of clothing and footwear that cost $60 or less, as well as certain school supplies that cost $15 or less. Shoppers and retailers can find a list of tax-exempt items by visiting the Florida Department of Revenue’s website in the “Current Topics” box. For a list of back to school supplies for your child, please visit your school’s website.
