Once thought to be extinct, this beautiful butterfly is local and flourishing in our own backyard.

The Atala is a small colorful butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. It is found in southeastern Florida, the Bahamas, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and on other Caribbean islands. It may be easy to bring them along, but besides obeying posted rules in the area, dogs do need a little special attention in order to make sure you both have tons of comfortable fun in the sun!

When we were told the same good people behind Guanabanas Restaurant in Jupiter were opening a new waterfront dining destination in Stuart, we had to venture north to check out their newest creation, TideHouse.

Arriving by boat, we were pleased to find quick and easy dockage at Harborage Marina and Yacht Club, with a depth of about 6-8’ throughout the entire marina making it a simple option for a larger boat as well. They offer a single floating dock on the west side of the main marina dock for anyone to use, as well as 3 first-come-first-serve boat slips.

TideHouse’s large dining area and island bar has a modern yet casual feel like a cross between a tiki bar and a yacht club, and overlooks the St. Lucie River from above, providing sweeping
