Snorkeling Trail at Phil Foster Park

 

The Phil Foster Park, located right under the Blue Heron Bridge connecting Riviera Beach to Singer Island, is a spot internationally recognized by scientists, divers, and underwater photographers for its abundance of diverse marine species. The park is packed with divers and snorkelers every day at high tide.

 

Palm Beach County and local artists have worked to conserve our reefs and their inhabitants by creating sculptures and artificial reefs for marine life and sinking them all over the area. At Phil Foster, you will find a snorkel trail spanning 2 acres with artifacts like hammerhead shark sculptures, a sunken speed boat, limestone, and much more. Take a dive to find out what else lies beneath. The trail is in about 10 feet of water and took 600 tons of rock to create. Starfish, seahorses, octopus, spotted rays, and squid are some fascinating species that are seen regularly here. You'll also see schools of sheeps head and jack, parrot fish, snook, and tons of small reef-dwelling fish like tangs, damselfish, and angelfish. 

 

The best time to snorkel is to start an hour before high tide. Here is a tide chart you can check ahead of time, along with a couple videos of dives at the bottom of the page. Phil Foster is a favorite for local divers because of all it has to offer both above and below the surface. Other recreational amenities include a guarded beach, boat launching docks, boat slips, a fishing pier, playground, showers, pavillions, and grills.
