Sea Turtle Release This Thursday in Juno Beach

Posted by Ali Kane on Tuesday, July 30th, 2019 at 1:58pm.

This Thursday, August 1st the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is releasing a Sea Turtle back into the ocean. Pre-release procedures begin at 10 am with the Release beginning at 10:30 am.

The turtle being released is Vitti, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle that was found in February in the Florida Power and Light St. Lucie intake canal. When the turtle came into the center, the turtle was underweight, lethargic, in poor health and the blood work showed anemia and hypoglycemia. After a few months of treatment and medicine, Vitti is now able to be released into the ocean.

Vitti will be prepared for release on Thursday at 10 am and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center staff will go over the turtle’s history and recovery. The sea turtle releases are weather permitting and do get crowded, so you are asked to arrive early and check their website for updates. The Marinelife Center will also be live streaming the release on their Facebook page.
