Memorial Erected in Palm Beach Gardens in Honor of 9-11!

After many years in the making, a 36-foot tall piece of the World Trade Center has been erected as a memorial, in Palm Beach Gardens this past Saturday. The column serves as a memory of the tragic day our nation was attacked on September 11, 2001. The monument is a 36-foot, 12-ton piece of twisted steel that was a column from the 110 story, World Trade Center. Intense heat and flames warped the metal when the plane hit the building.
Today, the monument can be enjoyed and stand as a symbol of our strength and recovery. Eight-foot tall glass panels will encase the metal monument. Etched into the glass are 3,000 names of victims whose lives were claimed by the tragic day. Many of the names are those of the brave policemen and fire fighters who gave their lives protecting our people. Their names will feature a symbol of a police or firefighter. Painted at the very top of the column is the phrase “C-89,” which represents where the column came from within the World Trade Center, between the 12th and 15th floors. Deputy Fire Chief, C.R. Brown said, “When you see that column stand vertical, it sends shivers up your spine.”
You can visit the monument anytime of the day and week at Fire Station 3 just west of Military Trail on the northern side of Northlake Boulevard.
