Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park cordially invite you to meet Florida Hall of Fame landscape artist Jackie Brice. Brice, a native Floridian, is an award winning professional artist who has been painting since 1967. She was inducted into the 2012 Florida Artists Hall of Fame. The Florida Artists Hall of Fame is the highest and most prestigious cultural honor bestowed upon an individual of the State of Florida.
Ms. Brice was one of seven artists in 1991 to be invited by the State of Florida to participate in the exhibit, “Moods of Florida” in the main gallery of the State Capitol Building. In 1993, she was invited to have a one-woman show at the Capitol during the legislative session. As a the result of the 1997 one-person exhibit in the rotunda of the Senate Building in Washington, D.C., her portfolio has been accepted into the archives of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Also, Ms. Brice was one of five artists in Florida chosen to design a Christmas ornament to hang on the Christmas tree in the Blue Room of the White House in 2002.
Locally, during the 75th birthday celebration of the Town of Jupiter chose one of Brice’s paintings of the Loxahatchee River for the cover of the second printing of “The Loxahatchee Lament” written by Richard Procyk. She believes strongly that the greatest teaching tool for a landscape artist is painting outdoors, and she used this practice to capture the essences of Florida. She has traveled and painted from the Florida Keys to North Florida and painted across the state as well.
As varied are the landscapes of Florida, time of day - sunrise to sunset, gulf pines to coconut palms, coastal scenery to a Tallahassee moonlit night, take the opportunity to view her collection that capture the essences of Florida on: Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, 10900 Jack Nicklaus Drive, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.
