Roots Music, New Belgium Brewing and Sailor Jerry present the “Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash – Celebrating the life of Jerry Garcia (1942 – 1995). The experience of celebrating 51 years of the iconic band the Grateful Dead and lead singer Jerry Garcia, will take place on July 31, 2016.
The band and their fans, “Deadheads”, are widely associated with the hippie movement of the ‘60’s and perceived as an American cultural institution for many years. They became an integral part of the spiritual and psychic revolt. Tie-dyed t-shirts filled the concert venues.
The Grateful Dead "never played a song the same way twice," The New York Times noted in Garcia's obituary. "The Dead built their reputation on long, free-form concerts, going onstage without a set list and playing anything from original songs to rock oldies to extended experiments with feedback. The music could shift in any direction as it sought what the band and its fans called the 'X factor': spontaneous, revelatory stretches of music arrived at through practice and serendipity."
There will be plenty of entertainment, fun and enjoyable food beginning at 1:00pm at the Jupiter Inlet Fishing Village’s tropical oasis, Guanabanas Restaurant and Tiki Bar.
