It will be October in a few days and fall is slowly creeping into the Jupiter area. Which means several things; the weather becomes idyllic, the holidays are right around the corner, and October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, second only to skin cancer. According to the 2019 U.S. Breast Cancer Statistics issued by Breastcancer.org an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. About 2,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2019.
Health, wellness and community centers in South Florida are hosting informational, activities and party-style events to promote the education and awareness of Breast Cancer. Many area shops, restaurants and retailers throughout the region offer special in-house promotional items to benefit local organizations focused on breast health and cancer cures.
During the month of October, Americans unite to find a cure for those affected, the survivors, their family and friends that have been touched by breast cancer. People across South Florida rally to join in on the fight for the cure, with local fundraisers and events that bring in millions of dollars to aid in the research of breast cancer and a cure. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an upcoming significant month time in Jupiter and the surrounding Palm Beach County area! There are a few fun events promoting awareness and fundraising for research all month long. It’s never too early or too late to join in the cause. Local Palm Beach County events are plentiful.
