Hobe Sound

Nestled between Jupiter and Stuart, the city of Hobe Sound offers a wide array of beautiful beaches, parks, and championship-caliber golf courses. Lovely views along the Indian River, Loxahatchee River, and St. Lucie River provide a beautiful sparkling backdrop to many residential communities. Marine life, such as dolphins and manatees, are commonplace, with the area embracing wildlife at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, spanning 11,000 acres and housing over 140 species of birds.

On the heels of last week's charity golf event that saw Dustin Johnson, Rory Mcllroy, Rickie Fowler, and Mathew Wolff raise over $5 million dollars for Coronavirus relief efforts, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson took to the golf course Sunday to do the same, and they brought some friends with them.

Joined by Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and retired NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, the four took to the links at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound and raised $20 million for COVID-19 charities.

While Tiger and Peyton defeated Mickelson and Brady 1-up to win the match, the real winners were not just the fans at home who got to watch live golf for the second straight week, but also all the charities that will benefit from the money raised.

The Town of Jupiter’s Loxahatchee River Center, located at 805 North U.S. Highway One, invites you to flutter on over to the first Atala Butterfly Festival and Family Day. On Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 will be celebrating the Atala butterfly! Once thought to be extinct, this beautiful butterfly is local and flourishing in our own backyard.

The Atala is a small colorful butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. It is found in southeastern Florida, the Bahamas, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and on other Caribbean islands. Its coloration and habits are unique among butterflies within its scale. Due to the decline in the butterfly’s host plant, triggered by overharvesting the root of the plant for starch by early settlers, the Atala butterfly was thought to be

Leaving the house without my dog is probably the most guilt-inducing part of my day. When she realizes I’m leaving, she flashes those sad puppy dog eyes hoping I change my mind. It’s the worst! The good news is, we live in a place where most people love dogs, and besides dog-friendly restaurants and bars, Palm Beach County has a few dog-friendly beaches and sandbars! It may be easy to bring them along, but besides obeying posted rules in the area, dogs do need a little special attention in order to make sure you both have tons of comfortable fun in the sun!

Here are a few tips for caring for your dog at the beach:

  1. Before heading outside, remember that dogs’ skin sunburns just like humans do. Anywhere they have skin exposed, short hair, white

If you’re from the Jupiter area, you probably have many childhood memories splashing around the shallow lagoon of DuBois Park. Some of the best family time of my childhood was spent searching for crabs, attempting to catch small fish with a toy net in the mangroves, and eating grilled hotdogs on the warm sand.

While the unique estuary is a joy to explore, there is also a rich history behind DuBois Park. At the top of the “Indian mound”, a large pile of mollusk shells built by indigenous Native Americans, in the center of the park is a house made of Florida pine that was once home to early Florida pioneers, Harry and Susan DuBois. Harry bought 18 acres south of the Jupiter Inlet that he had long admired for its ridge of Indian shell mound, and he needed

Blowing Rocks Preserve is like no other beach along the Florida Atlantic coast. Sandy beach is complimented by unique geological rock formations. Waves interact with these natural structures to produce a beautiful geyser show in some areas, and if you come here on a calm day you can see lots of marinelife and sea turtles below.

This beach is always clean and relatively quieter than other public beaches, and there are gorgeous mangrove-lined trails if you’re up for a little exploring. If you plan to do a lot of walking, bring water shoes or sneakers as the sand does get hotter on your feet throughout the day.

If you want to see the reason why it’s called “blowing rocks”, make sure you go at high tide!

If you’re from Florida, you already know, but if you’re new to the area, a large part of experiencing everything Florida has to offer is by eating what the natives eat- FISH! Saving the best for last, here are the top 10 fish to eat in Florida!

10. Kingfish

Some may wonder why kingfish even made this list, but the truth is that South Florida consumes a ridiculous amount of it. Also known as king mackeral, kingfish is not the best fish to eat as a main course since it tastes quite “gamey” because of its high oil content. However, commercial kingfishing is a booming industry in South Florida for a big reason- smoked fish dip. Just about every restaurant in South Florida carries this delectable
