In the small waterside town of Port Salerno, there's a distinguished art gallery showcasing fantastic bronze sculptures by internationally recognized artist Geoffrey C. Smith.

Smith is an American wildlife sculptor and photographer whose best-known work includes the Stuart Sailfish, which has become an icon at the center of the city, and more recently, "The Lotus: Rising Above," a small bronze sculpture given to Pope Francis in 2017 as a gift from President Donald Trump. Smith has 10 other commissioned pieces in Martin and Palm Beach counties including the otters at the Palm Beach Zoo, leaping dolphins at Indian Riverside Park in Jensen Beach, and a display of various local wildlife at the Florida Oceanographic Society in Stuart. He's also been awarded special recognition from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for "excellence in capturing the beauty of Florida's wildlife and in appreciation for outstanding artistic contributions to Florida's wildlife resources."

Geoffrey C. Smith has two galleries with his main studio on the Port Salerno on the inlet. There, visitors can explore a beautiful showcase of metallic life-size wildlife sculptures as well as learn the ancient lost-wax casting process Smith uses. He is often at the gallery and loves to share his craft, sometimes working on new pieces in plain sight. His other gallery is in downtown Stuart and both have nothing but 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor with patrons calling his studio a "must-see" and "world-class."

The studio gallery is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and the downtown one is open noon-6. Try going closer to lunch or dinner to grab a bite at one of the many restaurants within walking distance afterward like the Twisted Tuna, District Table or Pirate's Cove. See more information about the gallery here and check out homes for sale in the area here.
