Become A "Jr. Shark Biologist" At The Sandoway House Nature Center in Delray Beach!

The Sandoway House Nature Center is a beautiful and educational destination for people of all ages to visit and explore. Located in Delray Beach, the Sandoway House is a nature center that is home to hundreds of species of sea creatures local to south Florida. Many of the animals and plant life on display at the Sandoway House are in rehabilitation to be released back into their natural environment, but while they enjoy a stay at the Sandoway House they offer a great opportunity for learning to their admirers.
THE MONTH OF APRIL AT SANDOWAY HOUSE:
Every Wednesday and Saturday at the Sandoway House Nature Center at 3:15pm is the “Jr. Shark Biologist Program” for kids. For those youngsters that have always dreamed of being a marine biologist working up close with sharks, this program is a must try! The program is offered to kids ages 5-12 and is about 30 minutes long. “Designed as a mock shark study, students will be given the task of collecting, examining their “sharks”, recording data and tagging. Emphasis will be placed on real life techniques that researchers use to study these amazing animals.”
Some of the other exciting exhibits you can see when you visit the Sandoway House Nature Center include: the coral reef and shark tank, the reptile room which is filled with all types of reptiles including native and invasive species to Florida, the discovery porch, which is home to a variety of Florida’s turtles like gopher tortoises, box turtles, soft-shelled turtles and yellow-bellied sliders, the Wreck tank which features a hexagon shaped tank with replicas and renditions of the famous Delray Wreck or the S.S. Inchulva, a long steamship that wrecked due to a hurricane back in 1903, finally you will be able to see over 3,000 different shells in the shell room.
