The state of Florida is just one of 15 states to offer a Tax-Free Holiday on School supplies during the first few days of August. According to the Palm Beach County 2019 School Calendar the first day of school for students is Monday, August 12th and several retailers and online websites offer tax breaks on school supplies and clothing.
During the sales tax break period, Florida law states that there will be no sales tax or local option tax (also known as discretionary sales surtax) will be collected on certain purchases. These purchases include:
• Clothing, footwear, or certain accessories selling for $60 dollars or less per item.
• Certain school supplies selling for $15 dollars or less per item.
• Certain computer-related accessories or personal computers selling for $1000 dollars or less
The state of Florida is starting their Tax Holiday Friday, August 2nd through Tuesday, August 6th.
