Forbes Magazine wrote an article recently saying that West Palm Beach is the newest ‘Neighborhood to Watch’.  The city is often overlooked with its closeness to Palm Beach and Miami, but West Palm Beach is rapidly growing into the area’s most exciting neighborhoods.

The downtown area is bustling with restaurants, luxury hotels, and a dynamic shopping scene. Downtown is home to the 72 Arce Rosemary Square, formally CityPlace, that is an open-air area filled with luxury hotels, restaurants, luxury spas, and retailers.

The Winter Equestrian Festival is held in Wellington every winter and it is one of the largest annual sporting events held in Palm Beach County. The Equestrian show is also the longest-running equestrian event in the world. The event attracts national and international athletes competing for prizes, preparing for the Olympics, or just beginning their equestrian careers.

The iconic Palm Beach hotel, The Breakers is celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2021. The hotel was founded by Henry M. Flagler, one of America’s great industrialist. The Breakers Hotel was founded in 1896 by Flagler, and Flagler is known to have transformed South Florida into a popular vacation destination.

Henry M. Flagler first made his debut on the island with the construction of The Royal Poinciana, a six-story hotel located on the intracoastal side of the island. Today, The Royal Poinciana Plaza is home to numerous high-end shops and boutiques and award-winning restaurants. Two years later in 1896, Flagler began construction and what would become the iconic Breakers Hotel.

In addition, the many events held weekly, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting a Student Film Contest this January. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center has partnered with the 2021 Suzanne L. Niedland Documentary Scholarship Award, for the annual Student Showcase of Films produced by the Palm Beach Film and Television Commission every year.

The documentary film contest aims to showcase the importance of water in Florida’s communities and natural areas. Students in High School and College participating must create original video content to capture their film and storytelling skills. The weekend is finally here, and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting a list of events that everyone can enjoy. Head over to the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center this weekend and join in on the fun.

Public Guided Tours: Offered everyday at 12 pm and 2 pm

Visitors will learn about each sea turtle patient housed there during the tours and the Loggerhead Marinelife Staff will be there to answer all your questions about sea turtles, the ocean, the center itself, and marine life. The daily Public Guided Tours are offered twice a day due to their popularity. The tours are offered at 12 pm and 2 pm and last approximately an hour. All are welcomed to attend, and the tours cost $10

Its that time of year again for the annual South Florida Fair. This year, the South Florida Fair is bringing everyone two fairs in 2021. The first fair which starts tomorrow January 15th through January 31st will be a mini fair and the full traditional fair will be held in May of this year.

The mini–South Florida Fair rolls into West Palm Beach this January 15th through 31st. The upcoming fair will be held outdoors and include the typical fair foods and beverages, a variety of local and tribute bands performing daily, shopping from local vendors, a giant sand sculpture, racing pigs, farm animals, rides, fair games, and much more.

Several local restaurants have teamed up together to participate in the first “Eat in for Education” event this January. The Palm Beach Chapter of the Florida Restaurants and Lodging Association (FRLA) is hosting the virtual event to help support educational scholarships for local culinary and hospitality students. The event is scheduled to take place this January 20th and January 21st.

Fifteen local hotels and restaurants will participate by donating three-course takeout meals for the event. Diners will have a two-tier option to spend $50 or $100 dollars on a takeout meal for two. Palm Beach County residents are encouraged to participate and purchase these takeout meals to help benefit the event and help support local businesses.
