5 Things To Do in West Palm Beach
Nick’s 50s Diner

For the past 25 years, Nick’s 50s Diner has been a popular stop for West Palm Beach locals, gaining so much infamy as to be featured in newspapers and on television. They are known for their friendly service, homemade food at affordable prices, and of course the fascinating fifties memorabilia scattered throughout the restaurant, including an authentic 1955 jukebox to play oldies. Nick’s is highly popular, not only for its lunch items, but its breakfast options as well. Customers come from all over, just to be transported back into the 50s.

Maison Carlos

Maison Carlos originally opened in 2002 on Clematis Street and seven years later was moved to the Eld Cid neighborhood, craving a more community setting. Only eleven tables are available for dinner and the manager, Carlos, is present each night to greet and seat customers. Customers rave that Maison Carlos’ food is consistently delicious, and the service is superb. Favorite menu items include rustic asparagus Milanese, truffled lobster mac  and cheese, and soufflé de fromage. The atmosphere is light and inviting, as well as quiet and sophisticated, perfect for a date night.

Okeechobee Steakhouse

Okeechobee Steakhouse is a family-owned restaurant that opened in 1947. They pride themselves in developing their own exclusive process for aging beef, a family secret that will never be shared with the public. Steaks are also hand-trimmed to reduce the amount of fat to as minimum as possible, and portion sizes are generous. Most of the waiters are extremely knowledgeable about steak, going so far as to present each cut of meat to patrons and share the features of each before they are cooked to perfection. Many visitors even go so far as to argue that Okeechobee Steakhouse’s steaks are tastier than those at more corporate steakhouses.

Relish

Relish is a well-frequented restaurant in West Palm Beach, featuring hand-crafted Burgers. With over 1,000 mouth-watering options, visitors can customize everything from their choice of patty to toppings and sides. Also available are a variety of shakes, sodas, and excellent craft beers to enjoy. Relish is also one of the few restaurants who make bacon donuts, which are donuts drizzled with a sweet topping and, of course, bacon.  Flavors such as salted caramel, peanut butter cup, cinnamon sugar, and cookies and cream are available. A favorite shake is the Hostess Cupcake Shake, featuring an actual Hostess cupcake floating on the top.

Mellow Mushroom

The founders of the Classic Southern Pizza, Mellow Mushroom serves delicious pizza in a creative setting. Started in the 1970s, the Mellow Mushroom seeks to create the most mouthwatering slice of pizza, which can be paired with one of many craft beers. The inside décor is very eclectic, with bright colors and art designed to capture the eye. It is a light and fun atmosphere right in the heart of City Place, which makes it very convenient and the perfect place to stop for a bite of pizza before a movie.
