May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. It is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, and Easter Island).  Like most commemorative months, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month originated by an act of Congress in 1977.

This Summer, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is excited to bring back their popular Sea Turtle Walks event to their calendar.  On Tuesday through Saturday evenings, beginning June 1st, the center is inviting guests to join in on their Guided Sea Turtle Walks.

The center has gotten approval from the state to bring guests down to the beach and witness, observe, and learn about sea turtle nesting and the egg-laying process of sea turtles. Sea Turtle Nesting Season begins March 1st through October 31st and the beaches of Jupiter and Juno Beach are a popular nesting spot for sea turtles.  The center monitors the beaches daily for new nests.

The event begins with a quick tutorial of the nesting process and an after-hours tour of the sea turtle research

Make your average Thursday night turn into a tropical evening on the water and head over to Sailfish Marina on Singer Island. Taking place each Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. the marina turns into a music infused, sultry oasis for the weekly Sunset Celebration.  This event is free to attend and takes place year-round. It is perfect for the whole family.

Enjoy a variety of unique creations by local artists. Stroll through the marina and shop the treasures like sea glass jewelry, silver works, hand-carved wooden sculptures, pottery, paintings and more.

The popular food truck series is a great way to gather outside under the stars have some dinner and enjoy a concert.  This Thursday, the tribute concert will be “Sinatra, Martin, Darin and Vail.  Food trucks are 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and the concert is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

Lion Country Safari is one of Palm Beach County’s Top Attractions and is Florida’s only drive-through and walk-through safari as well as an amusement park. The safari is located in Western Palm Beach County and is situated on more than 600 acres of land with over 1000 animals from six continents throughout the safari’s seven sections.

Some of the notable animals and species roaming the area include white rhinos, lions, giraffes, chimpanzees, and zebras. There is 4-miles of pathways throughout the safari to drive through and see the animals.
