The Cultural Council of the Palm Beaches was established to aid in satisfying the necessity for art and cultural experiences in Palm Beach County. The Council offers a statement of cultural equality.  It states, “We believe that everyone has cultural traditions that are inherently valuable. We seek to honor and value creative expression of all people through the work of the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. Creating an art-filled community means seeing, celebrating, and serving all. Cultural equity is essential to a sustainable arts and cultural sector and a vibrant and thriving community.”

On select Wednesday during the year, The River Center in Jupiter hosts an after-school program with Scientist Same. The program is called Science With Sam.  Science With Sam is aimed for children in grades K through 5th grade.

Science With Sam includes activities such as garden exploration and many hand-on opportunities with wildlife. The event is hosted every month and each month features a different theme. The month of February will feature activities with Reptiles.

February’s Science With Sam will be this Wednesday, February 24th at 4 pm.  The after-school program is free to attend and registration is required due to limited space.

During the week, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum hosts events and tours. The iconic lighthouse and the lighthouse grounds is one of Jupiter’s favorite spots to visit for locals and visitors. This week, the lighthouse is hosting two reoccurring and popular events.

Twilight Yoga at the Light: Monday, February 22nd

Every Monday night join Yoga instructor Mary Veal on the Lighthouse Deck for a sunset Yoga session. All levels of yoga are welcomed and encouraged to attend the weekly yoga class. The class begins at 6 pm tonight and visitors are asked to bring their own yoga mat and water bottle. Twilight Yoga is weather dependent so be sure to check their website for updates. Governor Ron DeSantis announced additional COVID-19 vaccine sites.  The latest statistics for South Florida are as follows. There are 1,868,772 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Florida. 30,434 people have died. There are 117,559 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Palm Beach County. 2,394 people have died.  Demand for the COVID-19 vaccine is far more than the supply the state has received so far. It is anticipated that additional supplies will be coming soon.

Scripps Research Institute’s Florida Campus in Jupiter received a philanthropic gift from the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust to provide science education training opportunities for local elementary, middle, and high school students.  The William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust will invest in the institute’s educational programs with a commitment of $1.8 million. 

The Kenan Charitable Trust endorsed these programs as part of its mission to support educational opportunity to the benefit of humanity. The Trust was formed as a bequest from chemist and engineer William Rand Kenan, Jr., intended for the “substantial benefit to mankind.”  More than 175 students from Palm Beach County have participated in Scripps Research’s High School Student

Every Saturday morning, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts their weekly Self-Guided Beach Clean Ip for those wanting to help keep our beaches and oceans clean. All are welcomed and encouraged to help in the effort. 

Those that wish to participate are asked to stop by the back deck of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center before they begin. The supplies will be available at the Marine Debris Sorting Station.  Once supplies are picked up, volunteers can make their way down to the beach and begin. 

Once finished, simply bring your supplies and trash bags back to the Sorting Station at the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center and pick up a free t-shirt as a Thank You gift for helping to keep our beaches clean.

One of the most popular outdoor activities in Palm Beach County is golfing. The county is home to more than 160 golf courses both public and private and the area has earned itself the title of Florida’s “Golf Capital”. 

While playing golf requires some skill, the area is also home to a few great miniature golf courses for everyone to have a good time. The weather is expected to be in the low 70’s and sunny this weekend which makes it a perfect day to go out and play mini golf at one of our local favorite courses.

Paws in the Park will offer an opportunity for people to come out and adopt from local area pet rescue groups.  These groups will have adoptable animals on site.  Dogs and their owners are invited to join others for the Paws in the Park event Sunday, February 21, 2021, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  The day of if filled with exhibits, demonstrations, entertainment, beer and more!  Paws in the Park will take place at 100 N Clematis Street, West Palm Beach.
