With visitors still in town for the holidays, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their popular events this week to end the year. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is dedicated to helping protect the ocean, marine life and injured and endangered sea turtles through their rehabilitation center and research programs.

Public Guided Tours

Public Guided Tours are offered twice a day at 12 pm and then again at 2 pm. Those who attend will get an up-close look at the outdoor sea turtle hospital and get to see the sea turtles housed at the center. The cost is $10 dollars for adults and $5 dollars for children under 8 years old. All are welcomed to attend. The tour lasts approximately an hour and

Twilight Yoga at the Light

Tonight, Monday December 28th, head to the lighthouse and experience the peace and serenity of Yoga with instructor Mary Veal. The Yoga class takes place outdoors on the Lighthouse Deck at sunset every Monday night. All levels of Yoga are welcomed to attend. The class is $10 dollars per person and registration is required due to limited space. Participants must bring their own Yoga mat, and a water bottle. The class begins at 6 pm.

The gingerbread man has become synonymous with Christmas. But how did cookies come to be such an important symbol of Christmas?  Gingerbread was a restricted food, laws restricted its baking to guildsman, however at the holidays these regulations were relaxed, and people could bake gingerbread in their own at home, making it a very special once a year treat!

 

Palm Beach County give this very simple gingerbread recipe a try.

 

Ingredients:  

1  roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated sugar cookie dough  

3  tablespoons mild molasses

¼  cup all-purpose flour  

¾  teaspoon ground cinnamon 

¾  teaspoon ground ginger 

½  teaspoon ground allspice 

¼  teaspoon ground cloves

 Timelier than ever in West Palm Beach, this is the third year for the event for Lights 4 Hope, and it may be the season’s best reprieve for holiday celebrations during the pandemic.  The holiday event, drive through light show, is a COVD-19 friendly event. The money raised goes to a good cause. Proceeds will aid in purchasing decorations and gifts for children who are hospitalized during the holiday season. The magical celebration is also a chance for lucky good little boys and girls to spot Santa and get to wave as they go by through the holiday light show.

Palm Health Foundation & Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens have joined together to offer a free day of art and nature to Palm Beach County nurses. Recognizing the growing demands and complexities nurses are facing, Palm Health Foundation and the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens have joined together to offer to healthcare heroes a day of relaxation and tranquility through the gardens. The program is called “Healers in the Gardens”.

The program is funded by a grant from Palm Health Foundation and will offer 500 Palm Beach County nurses and their guests’ complimentary admittance to Ann Norton Sculpture Garden to acknowledge the community’s gratitude and respect for their devotion to patient care. Experience a snowy South Florida this holiday season. Rosemary Square, in West Palm Beach, will feature a nightly snowfall on the square along with The Wishing Tree lightshow. Rosemary Square is the lifestyle center formerly known as CityPlace. The snow shall continue to fall until December 31. Snow and lightshows begin at 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm, and no reservations are required. 

The LED banyan tree in the center of Rosemary Square is just the beginning of sights in West Palm Beach’s entertainment hub.
