After 32 years, it’s finally happening. The famous Brass Ring Pub known for its juicy burgers, addictive wings, and oh-so-icey beer mugs is opening a new location in Jupiter, Florida.

Since 1986 this humble hole-in-the-wall bar has ruled over Palm Beach County as the #1 burger joint, and while other trendy burger restaurants come and go, The Ring has stayed true to its most important ingredient: good quality beef.

“We use no seasoning on the burgers at all. We use good, quality condiments,” said Bret Worchester, whose father and brother opened the original North Palm Beach location.

During the busy season, the pub cooks from 110 pounds to 140 pounds of burger beef a day, says Frederick.

The final leg of the West Palm Beach Fishing Club’s Full Moon Wahoo Tournament Series is tomorrow, August 25th, with final weigh-ins at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island.

Centered around the three full moons of summer in South Florida, the tournament began with the strawberry moon in June, followed by the buck moon in July, and culminating with the sturgeon moon in August. Cash payouts are awarded to the top three boats of each full moon fishing day, then a grand prize will be awarded to the boat with the most aggregate weight from all three full moons.

So far, team YELLOWFIN is in first place with 50.4 lbs after bringing in a 24.4 lb wahoo in June and a 26.0 lb wahoo in July,

Two words sum up the fishing forecast this weekend: Full Moon. Stronger currents around big tides from the full moon turn on the feeding switch for most fish in South Florida, so you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you turn down fishing this weekend.

The wahoo bite has been well-documented to peak before and after a full moon, so local favorite Junkanoo Lures has barely been able to keep up with orders, and says you should see a lot of zigzag high-speed trolling going on offshore during the outgoing tide. Black/Purple and Black/Red color combos are recommended by Juno Bait Shop during lowlight periods, while Blue/White and Pink/White should be good when the sun is higher. Try for wahoo at 120-300’ in the morning and head out a little deeper

This Sunday, August 26th from noon-2 p.m. is Cycle for the Cure at the CycleBar in Palm Beach Gardens.

The event is a fundraiser for Komen South Florida, an organization whose efforts to provide breast health education, screening and treatment in the South Florida community and research to find a cure for breast cancer.

$50 individual riders will do a 30-minute spin class and their entry fee will support a breast health education

Every Tuesday between 3 and 5 pm, The Royal Poinciana Plaza hosts a fun one-hour educational class for all the little Palm Beachers in your life!

Lessons for "Wee Royals" range from arts and culture to science, and there are two sessions each week to allow for busy parents to factor it into their schedules. Choose from session one between 3 and 4 pm or session two between 4 and 5 pm.

The art walk takes place on the first Friday of every month from 6-9 p.m. You go at your own pace and stop at the spots on the map in whatever order you want. Delray is a hotspot for art, culture, entertainment and great food, so exploring the city in such a way is an awesome experience.

The 7th Annual Brazilian Festival of Pompano Beach brings the love and passion Brazil is famous for to South Florida.  October 20-21, 2018 the festival returns with all the excitement of past festivals. It’s a vibrant event that includes music, food vendors, fun for kids, dance and drumming performances.

Brazilians have a long, rich history of revelry. Their world-famous street festivals can be traced as far back as the 1700s.  Carnival is one of the world's most famous festivals, held over five days in Rio de Janeiro every year. For those of who you who can’t make it to Brazil for Carnival in February, the  Brazilian Festival of Pompano Beach has lots of similar showcases.  Feel some of that passion and rhythm of the culture.

The Palm Beach County Boxed for Success School Supply Drive saw a record-breaking year for donations, and local kids have plenty of supplies for the school year thanks to the generosity of area residents.

The drive received nearly 30,000 items including notebooks, paper, pencils, markers, crayons, tissues and glue sticks. Cash donations also totalled $14,600 which was by far the most money in the drive’s six-year history, doubling its previous high of $7,000 in 2014. 

All of the supplies and monetary donations were evenly distributed to three Title 1 elementary schools in the county, where more than 90 percent of those students' families are low income.

The Responsible Pier Initiative is a Florida program designed to promote a healthy pier environment for sea turtles and other marine life with the cooperation of fisherman.
