The South Florida Science Center believes girls have a bright future in science, and has established “GEMS Club”, standing for “Girls Excelling in Math & Science”. GEMS Club provides the opportunity for young women to learn and expand their knowledge in topics like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

GEMS Club meets on the last Tuesday of every month between 5 and 7 pm, provides pizza and drinks, and is open to girls in grades 3rd-8th with a $7 registration fee. This club is also offered at the STEM studio in Jupiter!

Walk-ins will be required to pay an additional $2 charge. Avoid this by registering ahead of time HERE.

Many builders are incorporating houses with smart home technologies, as the majority of buyers say they're willing to pay extra to have it, according to research from John Burns Real Estate Consulting.

Of 23,000 people surveyed in the consulting firm's research, 60% said they'd pay more for a home if it was outfitted with a smart thermostat. Even more people said they'd pay for a home with phone-accessible security cameras and smart locks. 

Of the 300 home builders surveyed, more than half say they're incorporating smart home technology into their new construction.

West Palm Beach dancer and Alexander W. Dreyfoos High School of the Arts alumni Darius Hickman has made it as one of the top 4 finalists on the popular TV competition So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD).

As an aspiring professional dancer and now TV star, Hickman has worked extremely hard to make it this far. He began serious training in ballet and contemporary dance at BAK Middle School of the Arts in 8th grade, and fine-tuned his talent at the Florida School for Dance Education (FDSE) in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida after school. His discipline and refinement earned him acceptance into Palm Beach County’s prestigious Dreyfoos High School of the Arts, and he went on to be a Young Arts finalist as well as won 1st place for his contemporary work at
