In October 2017, Americans purchased homes at the fastest pace in a decade- a 6.2% monthly increase nationally, and a 16% monthly increase in Palm Beach County, according to the Florida Realtors Association.

Why are people buying?

One contributing factor could be the result of the national interest rate on 30-year fixed mortgages continuing to drop. Last week mortgage rates dropped from 3.95% to 3.92% in comparison to 4.03% in 2016 (National Association of Realtors). Historically, lower mortgage rates have helped drive home sales and those looking to refinance the market.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has just released that their baseline limits for mortgages acquired by Frannie Mae and Freddie Mac will increase in 2018. (Frannie Mae is another name for the Federal National Mortgage Association and Freddie Mac another for the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. Both were initially formed by the U.S. government to stabilize the residential mortgage market and widen opportunities for homeownership). 

The Housing and Economic Recovery Act requires baseline conforming loans to be adjusted each year to reflect the changes in U.S. home price. Tonight, after years of preparation and work, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to reopen the renovated Palm Beach plaza. The event takes place in the east courtyard of the plaza at 5 pm.

‘The Royal’ is located on the intracoastal waterways, just over the Flagler Memorial Bridge in Palm Beach. Many of the tenants and locals are hoping that the new revamped plaza will become the anchor for Royal Poinciana Way and the north entrance to the island.

The walking tours are led by Rick Rose, who is dressed to impress for every tour in his colorful suits and hats fit for the Palm Beach lifestyle.

The holidays are a time for festive celebrations and joyful moments with friends and family, but more importantly the holidays are a time for giving. Every year events in our community bring everyone together to donate and help those in time of need.

This year and for the past 23 years, the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County (MIAPBC) hosts its annual Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade. Where residents and neighbors decorate their boats with holiday lights, decorations, holiday music, and of course some holiday cheer.

The parade will be led by fireworks as the boats cruise along the intracoastal waterways from North Palm Beach to the Jupiter Lighthouse
