A worthwhile stop for an afternoon outing is the John D. MacArthur Beach State Park. The park was established in 1989, and is the only state park in Palm Beach County. It is located between Riviera Beach and North Palm Beach. John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is named for its previous owner, the philanthropist John D. MacArthur, who donated this treasure to be a public park and wished to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation contributed additional funds to help develop the park and the Nature Center Facilities.

With Florida’s spiny lobster season approaching, Sailfish Marina Restaurant is hosting the 4th Annual Singer Island Spiny Lobsterfest on August 6 from noon to 8pm. This event has something for everyone: delicious local lobster dishes, live entertainment, art exhibits, over 30 vendors, costume contest, dunk tank, bounce house, face painting, and so much more. A percentage of the proceeds from this event will go to support the West Palm Beach Fishing Club. Lobster mini season is a highly anticipated event every year. “Sundays on the Waterfront” is a FREE monthly concert series in South Florida featuring national and regional acts.  It takes place on the third Sunday of each month on the gorgeous waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach.  The City of West Palm Beach Department of Recreation and Strategic Innovations, Division of Community Events produce “Sundays on the Waterfront”.

On the beautiful Jupiter Inlet stands a historical piece of real estate, a 1906 Sperry built boathouse.  Located within the Suni Sands mobile home park property, the significant structure will be demolished and transform into a historic hotel on the 10-acre site of the Jupiter Inlet.

William Sperry and his wife, who were owners of Sperry & Hutchinson Green Stamps, built the boathouse.  Most people of a certain age, who are from the South Florida area, will recall S & H Green Stamps from Publix.  Customers collected the stamps at the grocery store or gas station, pasted them into booklets and then redeemed them for various items from books, to shoes, to canoes and more.
