Did you know that “Snook are one of the many reasons Florida is the Fishing Capital of the World?!”

The harvesting of the well-known snook season is back open today on February 1, 2016 in Florida’s Atlantic coastal and inland waterways. All along the clear and very beautiful coastline from Miami Dade/ Monroe county line and north which also includes Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River.

Fisherman and anglers are allowed to keep only one snook per day that is not less than 28 inches or more than 32 inches in total length. (Must measure the snook from the most forward point of the head with the mouth closed to the farthest tip of the tail with the tail compressed or squeezed while the fish is lying on its side.)
*Only hook-and-line gear is allowed

Clear your calendars this weekend for the grand opening of the NEW MANATEE LAGOON!

Opening this weekend in Riviera Beach, Florida is an amazing new feature of south Florida, the Manatee Lagoon- An FPL Discovery Center. The new Manatee Lagoon building and café overlooks the warm waters of Palm Beach where with manatees like to stay during the cold winter months. The warm water comes from Florida Power and Light Company’s Next Generation Clean Energy Center. During the cooler months, this clean energy initiative produces warm water run-off that is the perfect temperature for the manatees. The new center will attract hundreds of manatees each year!

This new facility spans 16,000 square feet and features engaging, hands-on exhibits and educational displays.…
