The current year of 2014, began being a good year for tagging dolphin then it quickly turned into an upright outstanding year! This is the second superlative year of dolphin tagging so far, due to the appearance of hefty numbers of dolphin off the Southeast Coast of Florida. Numerous marine anglers are working very hard in labeling fish to ensure the achievement of the Dolphinfish Research Program.

The 2014 tagging determination for each zone converses and compares to the historical average. There is news on the tag recoveries and offers vital information about the dolphin behavior in broad areas or zones.

10.3.14 Fishing Report

Fishing should be a bit shaken up this weekend due to the first “cool” front of the season in South Florida.

OFFSHORE-
The west winds have divided up the dolphin fishing a tad as you may find decent size schools of dolphin up to 15 pounds from 11 to 13 miles offshore.  Trolling with ballyhoo or drifting with live mullet seems to always be excellent choices of bait to lure in the dolphin right now. Captains are predicting some sailfish action to be good this coming weekend with some possibly north wind in the forecast. Nearby on the edge, you will be able to discover some kingfish with occasional wahoo tagging along, by trolling around with a Bonita strip or spoon. The famous Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum will be suffused with bright colorful pink and then purple lights for the month of October. To increase awareness of two separate causes, Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence against Women, there will be different colors ignited on the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum that represent each origin. 

Every year in October the nation promotes Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a movement to escalade the awareness of the disease. Although most of the nation’s society is aware of breast cancer and the importance of this cause, various people seem to overlook to take the important strides. The prominent lady angler KDW fishing event is right around the corner! The once a year Bluewater Babes Fishing Tournament begins this weekend on October 3rd and 4th at U-Tiki in Jupiter, FL. This South Florida fishing tournament and costume contest is purely devoted to raising awareness for our local breast and ovarian cancer patients that are in financial necessity.
