The Wildlife Foundation of Florida encourages everyone to purchase a fishing license, one of the most effective ways to invest in Florida's future. The $17 fee for a fishing license is really an investment that keeps fishing alive and well in Florida. The fee goes directly to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), which is required by law to use those dollars strictly for fishing programs.

There is a New TrophyCatch website called “I Do” Campaign. Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) staff was at the world largest tackle trade show, ICAST, when it came to Florida, the “Fishing Capital of the World” in July. ICAST attracted 11,000 plus attendees, all of whom were professionals involved with recreational fishing. Fishing in Florida…

Most boat owners know that the ethanol found in most gasoline will wreak havoc on a marine engine.  Make sure you are using additives that help combat the effects of ethanol gasoline, try to use gasoline that is ethanol–free.  Marinas in Florida vary in their offering of ethanol free gas, but making an effort may reap huge rewards.

Take a look at local area marina fuel prices and see how they compare as of August 15 are as follows:

A beachy bungalow reveals plenty of personality and a relaxed laid-back vibe.  However, it can mean much, much more than just living by the beach.   Enchanted coastal living encompasses a way of life – blue skies, sunshine, wonderful beaches, and happy, healthy people.  People living a better lifestyle in a pleasant environment.

What does waterfront living mean to you?   Is it a custom-built enchanted beach bungalow from the ground up or a snazzy condominium overlooking bright blue Atlantic Ocean views?  Possibly, a magnificent estate overlooking the wide water of the Loxahatchee River or a private, gated waterfront country club community might be your idea of living on the water’s edge.

“Coastal living” is just a tag line after all.  You do

Fishing Report 8.15.14

OFFSHORE:
Wahoo- the beautiful, tasty, and lightning-fast ocean fish have been showing up in good numbers around Palm Beach and Broward County. Wahoo’s are plentiful in Florida waters this time of year, with the best bite always occurring around the full moon in August. The greatest chance for a wahoo good time is to fish early morning or evening time of the day. Whether you are trolling (high speed and slower speeds) or live baiting for the wahoo be sure to try and get the bait down suspended below the surface, this will help get the baits down in the wahoo’s zone and will help keep a Bonita or two away.

Want to be a marine hero? If you are a boater or a regular beach visitor there is now an easy way to help aid a stranded or injured dolphin or whale. There is an APP for that called: “Dolphin & Whale 911” which enables you to immediately report live or dead, stranded, injured or entangled dolphins, whales and seals in the Southeastern United States (Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands). This app supports you to report animals in distress and in need of assistance.

The report will connect you to the Southeast U.S. Marine Mammal Stranding Network and locate the nearest response hotline to your location, so that trained responders and veterinarians can recover or rescue

The population of the Jupiter area was 145. In 1905 Reverend Dr. Charles P. Jackson started an elementary school for the children of Neptune (Jupiter).  Neptune was the designation for the area and the post office along the Florida East Coast Railroad.   Lighthouse keeper, James Armour, opened the Jupiter Post Office during 1884.  After three years of inactivity, Mary Moore Carlin reopened the Post Office in 1887 at the Jupiter Lifesaving Station, where her husband, Charles Carlin was the keeper.

The good people of this area converted a lifeboat from the battleship U.S.S. Maine and it served as a “school bus” for the children.  Later a ferry service across the Loxahatchee River transported the children until a bridge replaced it in 1911 when a

It's no secret that Tiger Woods has not looked like his old self for the past several months. After having surgery on his back in March, the Jupiter Island resident has played in four events. The results aren't what him or any of us would have expected either. He missed the 36-hole cut at the Quicken Loans National, finishing 69th in the Open Championship at Hoylake, withdrew after nine holes in the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Inviational (a non-cut event), and missed the 36 hole cut by six shots this past week at the PGA Championship.

In addition to the golf world taking notice of Tiger's struggles lately, another one that has paid close attention is Tom Watson.

Watson, the captain for the United States in the upcoming Ryder Cup, has a

The last portion of the U.S. Route 1 Bridge over the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter FL, which is a favorite spot for snorkelers and once the location of a scene on national television show, is expected to be demolished this fall and replaced with an aluminum decked fishing pier.

The concrete bridge off of U.S. 1 that was built in 1927, allowed motorists to drive on U.S. 1 from Juno Beach to Hobe Sound. The middle section of that bridge was torn out when the new twice as tall U.S. 1 drawbridge opened in 1958. The section of the old bridge on the north side of the Loxahatchee River was torn down in 2010, leaving only a chunk of the South section, which has been used as a fishing bridge ever since.

Fishing was the not only activity on that section of the 20
