This week some of the best golfers in the world have gathered at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens for the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. While everyone will flock to the Champion course to catch a glimpse of Tiger, Rory, and others try and take down the famed Bear Trap, the Honda Classic is much more than just the Thursday-Sunday tournament.

Wednesday’s Kenny G Celebrity Pro Am brought attention to something close to the hearts of not just the local residents but people from around the country, wounded warriors and veterans. Several wounded veterans took the course as caddies on Wednesday to raise awareness for two different charities. Mall Rendering

The Palm Beach Mall in West Palm Beach has been a longstanding part of Palm Beach County since the day it was designed. Originally opened in 1967 the Palm Beach Mall had a phenomenal reputation. It was the largest mall on the southeastern seaboard and it was the first ever, fully enclosed, climate controlled shopping complex. For its time and for years to come, the Palm Beach Mall really was an icon for great shopping with flagship stores like Lord & Taylor, Sears and Burdines. Unfortunately, the mall’s reputation had slipped in later years due to tough competition from new and developing shopping centers.

Will Rory Mcllroy rebound from a slow start to his 2013 season?

Rory Mcllroy has gotten off to a slow start to the 2013 season. He missed the cut in Abu Dhabi and was eliminated in the first round last weekend at the WGC Match Play Championship. With his change to Nike this past offseason, experts and fans want to know if he is struggling with his new clubs. The defending champion at the event, Mcllroy looks to quiet all his doubters, and a strong performance this week at PGA National will do exactly that.

Jupiter River Homes on the Loxahatchee River 
The Loxahatchee River District, here in Jupiter, Florida has been named “Best in Nation” by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.  It has been honored for excellence in wastewater recycling by the Florida Water Environment Association.  In addition to serving the community, The Loxahatchee River District strives to maintain pristine habitats with water recycling efforts. Preservation of the Loxahatchee River is the District's highest priority. The Fed Cup World Group Play-off will be returning to Delray Beach this April for the third time in tournament history. The Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center will host the event as it returns to the state of Florida for the first time since 2007. Team U.S.A. is undefeated when the tournament is played in the state of Florida. They swept Belgium in 2005 and 2007, both played in Delray, and they defeated Australia in 1995 when the event was held in Aventura.

The winner of the best-of-five match series will advance to the 2014 World Group and have a chance to compete of the Fed Cup title next year. Team U.S.A. will host Sweden and will mark the fifth matchup between the two countries in Fed Cup competition with the U.S. leading the series 3-1.

Florida Golf Course

Rain wreaked havoc on the opening day of the week long festivities associated with the Honda Classic at PGA National yesterday. The Miami Dolphins Pro-Am was cut to only nine holes after a 30 minute rainstorm intensified, causing tournament officials to call the event in order to preserve the courses conditions for this weekend’s event.
“We want to make sure the golf course stays in the best condition as we work toward Thursday,” tournament director Ed McEnroe told The Palm Beach Post. “We don’t want it to become too sloppy out there and potentially affect the golf course come competition time.

Rain could affect more than just yesterday’s event. More rain is expected on Tuesday afternoon, when the pros are expected to get their first of two practice
