Polo is a game played between two teams on horseback who use mallets to drive a wooden ball down the field to score against the opposing team. Polo is the oldest equestrian sport and is played in Wellington. The sport came to the United States in the 1950’s and the first polo club opened in 1954 in Palm Beach, nearby where the airport is today.

Today, Wellington is known for all things equestrian and is known as the Equestrian Capital of the World. The Palm Beach County village is home to the Palm Beach International Polo Club and the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Visitors also flock to Wellington for the Palm Beach International Polo Season which is know until late April and the Winter Equestrian Festival which is also occurring now

The Dutta Corp and Patagones polo teams will play each other at the Joe Barry Cup Final on Sunday after playing the qualy games and this final is a rematch between the 2 teams like the at the Herbie Pennell Cup while SD Farm and Santa Clara will take part on the Bobby Barry Cup Subsidiary Final on Saturday.

This event, which takes place at International Polo Club in Wellington, is sure to be an exciting match for Palm Beach County polo enthusiasts.

The Winter Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington hosts the world’s premier winter equestrian event which lasts from now until March 31st. The competition offers events for children, junior, adult amateur, and professional equestrians in 70 unique divisions.

Riders from around the world will compete for titles in front of thousands of audience members. Some events draw over 10,000 people. There will be an estimated 8,000 horses on the grounds over the course of the festival, with events Wednesdays through Saturdays each week.

The popular indoor cycling studio has returned to Palm Beach this season for another pop-up shop in the Royal Poinciana Plaza on Palm Beach Island.

The spin cycle studio is in its second trail in the area after the success of last year. The New York City based company returned to Palm Beach on November 20th and runs until March 31st for its Destination SOUL Pop-Up shop.

The company started 12 years ago as a way to help people get in shape without spending too much time working out. The company has locations in several states and major cities including Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Austin, and Chicago.

The closet SoulCycle studio to Palm Beach County is in Miami with locations in Brickell, Miami Beach, and Coral Gables.

Every year the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington hosts its Winter Equestrian Festival. The festival is the world’s premier equestrian event. The festival offers competitions for professional equestrians, adult, junior, and children amateur in 70 unique divisions.

The competition and festival runs for 12 weeks and participants range in age from 2 years to 70 years old with more than 6,000 horses and more than a half a billion dollars in prices. The festival is the longest and largest running horse show that only sees the best riders of their class from more than 42 countries.

A premier park located just west of West Palm Beach. Okeeheelee Park is a beautiful place for relaxing adventures with kayak rentals and outdoor activities.

The original site for the park was purchased in 1973, and at the time only about 10% (90 acres) of the area was in its natural state. It encompasses two lakes; with access for boating, fishing, water skiing, and radio-controlled boating, the park also has tennis courts, a playground, and a dog park called “Pooch Pines.”
