Palm Beach Gardens resident and long-time veteran of the golf community Suzy Whaley has added another achievement to her extensive resume; she is officially the first woman ever elected to serve as an Officer of the PGA of America. PGA Master Professional Suzy Whaley was elected as the 41st President of the PGA of America at the Association’s 102nd Annual Meeting on November 9th, 2018.

This title certainly doesn’t come as a surprise from PGA President Whaley, as she most recently served two years as Vice President, and two years as PGA Secretary. She is also the PGA Owner of Suzy Whaley Golf, and the PGA Director of Instruction at the Country Club of Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The American Cancer Society has announced that professional golfer Jack Nicklaus, known as the “Golden Bear”, will be hosting the organization’s 50th Annual 19th Hole Club fundraiser this November.

The American Cancer Society’s 19th Hole Club was founded 50 years ago by Nicklaus, Bob Hope, and Perry Como to help raise crucial funds to fight cancer.

Since its inaugural event in 1968, more than 80 PGA and LPGA TOUR players have hosted the affair. It has since evolved from an exhibition match in the 1960s, to a luncheon and golf clinic in the 1980s, to what is not a social soiree with an open bar, refined chef-prepared food, a glow-in-the-dark putting contest, a chipping contest, and a silent auction.

For more than 100 years, the American Cancer

Besides being one of the safest places to live in Florida, North Palm Beach is about to receive an upgrade to the village’s public country club.

The North Palm Beach Country Club and its pool were originally built in 1963 for $400,000, and with an increase in property value along with notable affluent residents, a lot has changed in this gorgeous seaside town since then. The 55-year old clubhouse has since been demolished in lieu of an $18 million overhaul.

The new 37,000 square foot clubhouse will include a lavish community room to be used for banquets, a restaurant, a pro shop, locker rooms, and storage for golf carts. The 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course is also receiving a face-lift with brand new sod and grass seedlings.

The Ocean Course at The Breakers is a few steps closer to being completely renovated. Originally designed by Alexander Findlay in 1897, this lush Palm Beach golf course was redesigned by Brian Silva in 2000, and they’ve now enlisted renowned golf architect Rees Jones to complete its latest nip and tuck.

Renovations began this spring, and this past Friday the new greens received their first watering.

Once renovations are complete, the course will have fresh salt-tolerant turf and its previous tifEagle Bermuda greens, as well as an updated reverse-osmosis irrigation system. Further contributing to water conservation, the on-site well converts undrinkable water into 500,000 gallons of irrigation water per day.

Referred to as “Golf’s Hot Spot” in Golf Digest and the “Epicenter of Professional Golf” by GOLF.com, the sunny beachside town of Jupiter Florida is the place to live for today’s pro golfers.

The current crop of Tour players have flocked to Jupiter Florida, favoring the beachside town for its warm weather, its absence of income tax, its unparalleled lifestyle, and its prevalence for affluent suburbs that allow access to private clubs and games with other pros.

One of the most public additions to the Jupiter scene was Tiger Woods when he completed a $38 million purchase in 2016 of 10 acres of residential property stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway, but 35 PGA
